CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE

After the delicious lunch, the prince had closed-door meetings with some guests. He dismissed the rest so they could relax or enjoy the city’s sights and activities.

Since they did some exploring during and after mall shopping the previous afternoon, Ma and her friends decided to take it easy at home. Why go out again when you were temporarily living in a mini-mansion?

They all had different ways of decompressing. Agatha worked in private on an experimental new formula she claimed would knock Ma’s socks off when she finally completed it. Afterward, she took a limo ride to the nearest grocery store and a Veil-renowned alchemy shop. Then she prepped their dinner in the fully equipped kitchen.

Poly stayed busy writing in the study while sipping coffee. The muse had discovered a fancy espresso maker that must have cost more than some cars and could make any coffee drink imaginable. While Agatha and Poly did their thing, Ma, Mini, and Sven relaxed in the pool area.

It was painfully hot outside. Without sunscreen lotion, they would have already suffered burns. Too bad the prince’s weather biome didn’t stretch out here. Ma kept sending cooling breezes over the three of them from her inflatable throne floating on the pool’s surface. It was nothing on the scale of creating an artificial biome like the prince could do.

“More air, please,” Sven requested as he reclined on a lounge chair poolside. With his reflective sunglasses over his eyes, Ma had thought he was asleep.

She drew more wind from the air and increased the flow to her agent. It took a lot of effort, like blowing up a large balloon with your mouth, and she had to keep drinking water so she didn’t get dehydrated. She wouldn’t mind if the prince stopped by and shared his comfortable atmosphere with them.

They still had a pool to enjoy, which was better than no pool.

“You pleased that I didn’t get into a fight at the palace today?” Ma asked.

Sven lifted his sunglasses an inch above his eyes. “You’re asking me if I’m glad you upheld your side of our agreement? You have two strikes against you. One more and this is the last gig I get for you.”

Yeah… That conversation didn’t go as planned. Except she wasn’t sure Sven’s annoyance was only about her. Maybe something else had happened to him at the palace.

“Enough talk about me. You look irritated. Something happen at the palace?”

The agent fidgeted. “It’s more like what didn’t happen.”

“What didn’t happen?” Ma fished for information.

Sven sighed. “I met a lovely guest at the party today. Quite attractive. But I was unable to introduce myself.”

Ma snorted to cover her almost-laughter. “Let me get this straight. You’re an incubus. Your innate ability is to make women swoon over you. But you couldn’t work up the nerve to speak to this mystery woman?”

Her agent roughly cleared his throat. “You know nothing about me. And for your information, some mythical creatures are immune to my charm. They’re the most desirable to pursue, in my opinion.
